Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, is making his directorial debut with Netflix’s upcoming original series The Bastards of Bollywood. The buzz around the show just got a major boost as Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos shared his first impression after watching the initial episodes.
Speaking on Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, Sarandos said he found the show “very fun” and “very funny,” adding that audiences in India and around the world will get a fascinating glimpse into the inner workings of Bollywood. He praised Aryan Khan’s direction and called him a very good storyteller.
The show is described as a sharp, immersive dramedy about an ambitious outsider and his friends navigating the unpredictable world of the Hindi film industry. Produced under Red Chillies Entertainment, the series features creative leads Aryan Khan, Bilal Siddiqi, and Manav Chauhan, with Gauri Khan backing the project and Akshat Verma and Bonnie Jain serving as executive producers.
Earlier this year, Shah Rukh Khan teased the show with a cheeky promo video featuring himself and Aryan, setting the tone for what promises to be a bold and entertaining dive into Bollywood’s glitz and grind.
The creators say the show explores what really happens behind the camera—the ego clashes, the chaos, the comedy, and the high emotional stakes that mirror the films Bollywood produces. It strips the industry of its polish to reveal the messy but human truth beneath.
The Bastards of Bollywood is set to stream on Netflix in 2025.
