Actor Arrested in Drug Bust at Chennai Airport
Vishal Brahma, best known for his small role as Samrat in Punit Malhotra’s 2019 film Student of the Year 2, has been arrested at Chennai airport in a high-profile drug bust. The 32-year-old actor was caught smuggling methaqualone worth Rs 40 crore, according to reports. He was apprehended by officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence after landing from Singapore on flight AI 347.
How the Smuggling Operation Was Orchestrated
Investigators revealed that Brahma was allegedly recruited by a Nigerian gang that targeted him for his financial struggles. He was lured into travelling to Cambodia and was instructed to bring back a trolley bag filled with drugs on his return. As per reports, once he landed in Chennai, he was asked to check into a hotel near Dr MGR Chennai Central Railway Station and then board a train to Delhi to hand over the consignment to the gang’s contact.

Authorities are now focusing on tracing the Nigerian gang that orchestrated this smuggling operation. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has launched an investigation to uncover the wider network involved. The bust has exposed how international drug syndicates are targeting vulnerable individuals, including struggling actors, to act as carriers.
